Curriculum and Course Overview
The course will be divided in 2 parts; 10 weeks and 6 weeks. In addition to meeting with your mentor 2 hours per session 2 days weekly for the 1st part, every student hosts their own individual or group online audio or video program. This requires you to develop a solid broadcasting foundation, which your course work is intended to provide. Think of your broadcasting training like a college course with a lab. The following curriculum will cover your knowledge about broadcasting. Your studio station time with your mentor is like the lab. Hosting your own radio or television program will apply what you have learned in a realistic manner, with your mentors’ guidance and assistance. Here is an overview of your course work.
Session 1: Week 1: Introduction to Professional Announcing
Session 2: Week 1: The Audio Studio Environment
Session 3: Week 2: Vocal Development
Session 4: Week 2: Performance Development
Session 5: Week 3: The Studio Environment: Studio and Cable
Session 6: Week 4: Commercial Announcing
Session 7: Week 5: Interviewing
Session 8: Week 6: News Announcing
Session 9: Week 7: Music Announcing
Session 10: Week 8: Sports Announcing
Session 11: Week 8: Specialty Announcing
Session 12: Week 9: Beginning Your Announcing Career
Session 13; Week 10: Show Production Foundation
In your 11th week you will begin to apply everything you have learned to produce, host or co-host your own radio or television program. Each program will air weekly either Live or Pre- Recorded for 1 hour for 6 additional weeks. Congratulations you have now completed your 16 week course and are officially in the broadcasting field.
